ルーム　by　カーン

・ 建築はルーム（部屋）をつくることに始まる。
Architecture comes from the making of a room.

・ プランはルームの共同体です。ルームが互いに関わりあうことで、それぞれのルームは固有の空間性を強めていくのです。
The plan is a society of rooms. The rooms relate to each other to strengthen their own unique nature.

・ 真のプランではルームは互いに話しかける。
A real plan is one in which rooms have talked to each other.

・ ルームは心の場所である。小さなルームでは大きなルームにいるときと同じ話はしない。
The room is the place of the mind. In a small room one does not say what one would in a large room.

・ そもそも私は家がキッチンやリビングルームといった一般によく知られた名前の部屋群から成り立っているとは考えないのです。まず、そういう名前で呼ばれる前に、そういう部屋になるべきです。
I wouldn't think,to begin with,a known rooms:kitchen,living room,that sort of thing. They become such places without naming them.

・ 大きな空間をつくり、そのなかを仕切ってできた領域をルームと呼べるとは思わない。ルームは自己の延長であるべきだ。
I don't believe in constructing a large space and then making partitioned areas within it and calling them rooms. A room should be an extension of self.

・ ルームを分けることで、それぞれの場が共鳴する。
The room separations make responsive places.
